working prototype!

first version is on the air!

https://hilgerthiago.itch.io/mars-bots

this post is meant to explain the game mechanics so far... almost like a tutorial

keep in mind, this is the first prototype: it's simple, probably somewhat buggy, and you're welcome to leave constructive feedback :)

first, a gif with the game running:

this is a miner: it goes to an iron mine and makes iron ore:

this is a transporter: it collects the iron ore and transports back to the mainframe when it's full and unloads everything:

the last thing on the map is the mainframe, where you can see your units storage, create new miners and transporters, and put them to work:

on the top, you have the resource bar (so far, only iron ore on the left):

how the game works:

miners and transporters are actually "modules" that run over "bots"

- bots are the bottom part, working as wheels, and costing 100 iron ore

- modules are the top part, working as the brains and arms, and costing 50 iron ore each

if you want to create a new bot/module and have enough resources, click the mainframe then click on the buttons on the bottom to create what you want (and can):

to put bots and modules to work, you have to add them to the map

to do this, click the mainframe, select a bot and a module, and finally click the green button on the right

voilà, a new miner arrived to help!

miners and transporters have a "play/pause" button, and a "go home" button:

- the play/pause button makes the bot go to work

- the go home button makes the bot go to the mainframe, unload everything, and enter the storage, where you can mix and match modules and bots again:

i guess that's it!

in the future, the idea is to have resource refinement, a more complex resource chain, bots costing different resources, etc.

a full game can (and maybe will) be created over this prototype

please comment below if you found any bugs and your thoughts about this prototype :)

be kind!

thanks and i'll see you on the next one
